Ferrovanadium is a ferroalloy obtained by reducing vanadium pentoxide with carbon in an electric furnace, or by reducing vanadium pentoxide in an electric furnace by the silicothermal method. Ferrovanadium is a ferroalloy consisting of vanadium and iron, and is mainly used as an alloy additive in steel making. High vanadium ferrovanadium is also used as an additive in non-ferrous alloys. Three types of ferrovanadium containing 40%, 50%, 60% and 80% vanadium are commonly used.
