Erucic acid is a long-chain monounsaturated fatty acid primarily derived from rapeseed and mustard oils, serving as a critical feedstock for the specialty chemical industry. Its most significant application is in the production of erucamide, a premier slip agent used in plastic film manufacturing to prevent polyolefin layers from sticking. In the lubricant sector, erucic acid and its derivatives are utilized as high-performance additives for greases and metalworking fluids, prized for their excellent oxidative stability and lubrication at high temperatures.
